The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has received approval from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for extending the Yellow Line from Samaypur Badli in Delhi to Sonipat in Haryana via Nathupur for better regional transit opportunities. This 22-km Yellow Line Extension, part of Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 project, will bring seamless metro connectivity to thousands of daily commuters traveling between Delhi and Haryana.

Route Length: The Yellow Line currently spans 47.2 km, connecting Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre Gurugram.
Government Approval: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has granted permission for DMRC to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
New Corridor: The extension will connect Sonipat, improving access to Residential and Commercial hubs.
Interchange: Interchange facility available at Samaypur Badli with the existing Yellow Line. It aims to connect rapidly expanding urban and suburban zones with the existing metro network.

Also includes major key stations like Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Chawri Bazar, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg, Jor Bagh, Dilli Haat-INA, AIIMS. This Yellow line also serves commercial and neighbouring areas such as Qutub Minar, Chhatarpur, Guru Dronacharya, IFFCO Chowk, and Millennium City Centre.
Delhi Metro proposed extension will span approximately 26.5 kilometers and include 21 new stations, traversing key localities such as Rithala, Rohini, Bawana, Narela, and Nathupur.

Next Steps of DMRC
After getting the approval, DMRC will start working on the DPR development process, which will detail all the technical as well as financial and operational components. After completion of development, DMRC will present the proposal and undergo final approval stages for funding approval.
